Vintage Contra Costa California

The county of Contra Costa was one of the 27 counties established when California became a state in 1850. Mt. Diablo County was the initial name for the county, but it was altered before it was incorporated as a county. Since it's located on San Francisco Bay, opposite San Francisco in an easterly direction, the county's Spanish name means "opposite coast." On March 25, 1853, the county's southern portions, including all of the bayside parts opposite San Francisco and northern portions of Santa Clara County, were surrendered to form Alameda County. With such an exciting past, it's no surprise industries like the real estate sector are vibrant in this county.
