Los Angeles County was created when the California Territory became a state in 1850 – long before there were condos for sale in Los Angeles County. Other sources record the name as El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Ángeles de Porciúncula, but the essential meaning is the same.

The 2020 census lists the population of LA county at a staggering 10,014,009 people. That is up 2% from the figure in 2010, but still shows a growth of more than a million people since the 1990 census.
