The H Stanley Bent House, 1926Originally sited on 3.5 acres, the H Stanley Bent House was designed by AIA Fellow architect, Carleton M Winslow, who was considered to be a leading exponent of the Spanish Revival style. Completed in 1926, the land was later subdivided in the 1970's resulting in the current 1.89 ac lot size. It is surmised that Mr Bent, who owned a construction company that specialized in the building of dams and bridges, used concrete from their nearby 1920's Devil's Gate Dam project for the Old Mill property. With walls and a foundation of reinforced poured concrete, the Bent House is constructed for long-term stability and unequaled durability. Marrying old world and modern designs, during an extensive 4-year renovation and expansion by the current owners, the front and side elevations were left virtually unchanged while the interior was almost entirely repartitioned and updated.
