Arizona History

Those interested in buying a condo in Chandler, Arizona might be surprised that the town is barely over 110 years old. It was founded by Dr. Alexander John Chandler, after acquiring 18,000 acres of land around his own ranch. It was founded in 1912, and was originally known as “The Candler Ranch.” By 1913, it contained the first grass golf course in Arizona. Since the 1980s, Chandler has grown at a similar pace to the rest of the Phoenix Metro Area, and new suburban residential areas have swallowed up most of the old agricultural plots. It became the fastest-growing municipality in the country by the 1990s, and was named an All-American City by the National Civic League in 2010.
