Condo Living in Anchorage, Alaska
Alaska is synonymous with the wilderness for so many people, and they are not wrong.

Anchorage Pays You to Live There
Although the living cost is high in Anchorage compared to the national average, people are still thriving in its economy. This ability to succeed is because the annual household incomes compensate for the inflated cost of living.

Anchorage is one of the cities in Alaska that allows an equal amount of the state's oil royalties to every resident. This money enables them to live comfortably and certainly contributes to residents being able to own their own homes.

History of Alaska

History of Anchorage, Alaska Anchorage, Alaska, has quite a colorful history surrounding its name. The larger Anchorage area comprises the unceded land of the Dena'ina Athabascans. Their names for the town were Dgheyay Leht, meaning Ship Creek, or Dgheyay Kaq', which referred to the original settler town. But as far as the American government is concerned, the name only came into being in 1914 as Woodrow Creek after President Woodrow Wilson. However, few Americans or Alaskans knew of this name due to poor means of communication in the state. Therefore, Knik Anchorage was shortened to Anchorage and declared its official name in April 1915. Anchorage's development began in 1915 with the construction of the federally owned railroad due to its lucrative employment opportunities. In the 1920s, 203 families from poor neighboring counties received the chance to create a new agricultural community in Anchorage. Unfortunately, many returned home due to the harsh winters, but today you can see the descendant farms of those who remained. From 1939 to 1949, a population boom took place in Anchorage because of the influx of military facilities and 300,000 military personnel during Pearl Harbor. Many military facilities from this period formed the basis of post-war economic growth and remain vital today. Anchorage experienced its next economic boom in the 1970s due to oil developments. This city became the headquarters for the Trans Alaska Pipeline, which drove additional infrastructural development. For example, oil money funded the civic and cultural buildings in present-day Anchorage, such as the magnificent Performing Arts Center. Although government resource extraction is still a large part of Anchorages' economic infrastructure, the city is working to diversify its opportunities with commercial fishing and tourism.

Anchorage, Alaska, however, is the perfect blend of beautiful untamed Alaska and vibey urban living.

Because of this unique combination of natural and man-made habitation, you can be sure that you will find the condo of your dreams here within the city's heart. So do not be alarmed by a moose or two roaming the streets, as they are just part of the Anchorage charm!
