Buy a house in North Charleston, SC, and enjoy a different kind of southern charm

According to several travel experts, Charleston, which was established in 1670, is considered as one of the world’s most popular destinations. While its neighboring area, North Charleston, has only come into existence more than 300 years later.

For more than a century later, North Charleston’s popularity has been attributed to the country’s Navy base, which was developed in 1901. Aside from being the major employer of the city, it was also one of the biggest on the East Coast. However, in 1996, the government decided to close the base due to cost-cutting reasons. That is why during this time most residents fear that North Charleston would simply die.

But surprisingly, this did not occur. Rather, North Charleston has flourished. The fact is, it is now the third-largest city in the entire state of South Carolina with a population of more than 97,000 as of the 2010 U.S. Census.
