The first high-rise building in Southaven was the Baptist Hospital-DeSoto, which was first constructed in 1988. In October 2007, Southaven opened Southaven Towne Center, which was the city’s first large shopping mall. Southaven became the third-largest city in Mississippi in February 2011. Among the famous celebrities who lived in this city include songwriter and singer Cory Branan, as well as the famous novelist John Grisham.
